Origine unveils the Radium: a new vision of trail bike

Origine has built its reputation on platforms where precision leaves no room for compromise. Cross-country racing demands a refined read of the terrain, precise management of forces, and the ability to deliver performance without ever upsetting the bike’s balance. Nothing is left to chance, everything is measured.

It’s from this mindset that Origine’s engineering team has developed an all-new trail bike, pushing even further in the development of a full-suspension, high-modulus carbon fibre frame. Energy return, traction retention, and impact absorption, all without compromising steering precision.

Origine is proud to introduce the Radium.

Moving from XC to trail isn’t simply a case of adding travel or reinforcing an existing platform. It means accepting a genuine shift in character: broadening the spectrum, embracing greater commitment and dynamic loads, without losing sight of what defines trail riding at its core: freedom.

The terrain becomes more demanding, more unpredictable, less forgiving. The bike can no longer just optimize pedalling efficiency, it has to support the rider and absorb the terrain’s irregularities.

Radium, The Original Trail Mountain Bike

Mastering energy

With 130mm of rear travel, a linkage-driven single-pivot layout and a full carbon chassis, the Radium was developed around one clear objective: a bike capable of pedalling efficiently right up to the trailhead, then letting go completely once the descent begins.

The frame’s construction, built around a carefully balanced high-modulus carbon layup, strikes a subtle balance between compliance, stiffness, strength and weight.

The layup was engineered to deliver a bike that’s easy to ride, holds a line confidently through corners, and offers strong energy return out of corners and on the pedals, all while meeting ASTM Category 4 certification (enduro-level conditions), giving riders full confidence to hit the bikepark. Combined with our in-house-developed suspension and the bike’s overall balance, this keeps grip on the rear wheel, maintains stability as the trail speeds up, and preserves precise, predictable steering through the roughest sections.

The Radium doesn’t set out to follow a fixed definition of the trail category. It was designed to deliver fluid, stable and engaging handling, capable of switching between pedalling efficiency and genuine descending capability, without ever breaking the connection between rider and bike.

One platform, builds

The Radium is available in two builds, based on the same platform and the same riding philosophy, both built around Origine’s AFS technology.

Radium LT: 140 mm

This configurable build pairs a 140mm fork with a RockShox Deluxe shock delivering 130mm of rear travel, a 31.8mm cockpit, faster-rolling tyres with lighter casings, and components selected to prioritise pedalling efficiency, responsiveness and liveliness.

With a 65° head angle, the LT sets out its stall clearly: this is a committed trail bike, built to give riders confidence in all conditions without sacrificing climbing ability.

This build is aimed at riders looking for a bike capable of covering long rides, pedalling efficiently, and maintaining a clear, natural read of the trail.

Radium: 150 mm

In its 150mm configuration, the Radium takes on a more aggressive character.

The 150mm fork slackens the head angle to 64.4°, adding stability and confidence as the terrain gets faster and rougher.

This build also gets a 35mm cockpit, a RockShox Super Deluxe shock, and reinforced-casing tyres for increased support, grip and capability in the most demanding sections.

The Radium retains its overall efficiency but gains in forgiveness and commitment. This version edges closer to a true mini-enduro bike: more margin on descents, more comfort through rough terrain, while keeping a lively, precise character.

One philosophy

Whichever travel option is chosen, the Radium keeps the same DNA: a highly active suspension, a stable chassis and a bike that remains predictable to ride.

The goal is to let the rider stay in control, of the bike, of grip, and of confidence, as the trail gets tougher.

AFS – Active Flow Suspension

Today, most kinematics rely on highly progressive behaviour and relatively firm suspension platforms.

AFS technology was developed around a different approach: a suspension that feels smoother, freer and more natural on the trail.

Built on a single-pivot layout driven by two proprietary linkage pairs, the AFS platform prioritises grip, impact absorption and control as the terrain gets tougher.

The kinematics are built around a low-to-medium leverage ratio for the category, paired with a more linear suspension curve and a shock tuned to run more open and naturally progressive, thanks to its air spring.

With low pedal kickback and moderate anti-squat, made possible by the low leverage ratio (2.5 degrees and 60% at sag respectively), the suspension delivers strong grip both on descents and on technical climbs, where its performance isn’t compromised by chain-growth effects. The bike holds more speed, stability and grip through rough sections, while reducing rider fatigue. The more rearward axle path through the early part of the travel further improves the bike’s ability to soak up small bumps and stay glued to the ground in technical terrain.

To unlock the full potential of this innovative trail kinematic, we worked with RockShox to develop bespoke shock tunes, precisely adapting the cartridge’s hydraulic behaviour. The result is 130mm that feels like a great deal more once you’re up to speed.

The platform is built around two recommended sag settings:

    • 25% for riders who prioritise pedalling efficiency and bike responsiveness
    • 30% for more committed riders or bikepark sessions, where using the lockout means never having to compromise between efficiency and commitment

Another key feature of the platform: a deliberately low final leverage ratio at the end of the stroke, which pushes back the threshold for bottoming out and delivers a genuine bottomless feel, consistent support even on the hardest, most aggressive landings.

      Radium Geometry

In developing the Radium’s geometry, we made choices designed to make the bike as versatile as possible:

      • An aggressive 65-degree head angle (140mm), or 64.4 degrees (150mm)
      • A 465mm reach in size M (140mm)
      • 438mm chainstays

At Origine, we don’t just control frame sizing, we control the sizing of every associated component too, thanks to our online configurator. By combining frame, stem and handlebar, and drawing on thousands of human morphological data points, we’re able to offer an innovative sizing recommendation guide based on three parameters:

      • A consistent SK+/RE+ ratio across all sizes
      • A consistent front-wheel-to-cockpit distance across all sizes
      • A linear progression of reach across the size range

The aim is to achieve proportional progression across every size.

To anticipate and study rider positioning on the bike, we built virtual rider models based on extensive anthropometric data. What we found is that, with our geometry, riders’ backs stay more upright as frame size increases, a reduction of around 35% compared with a conventional geometry.

Our goal is for every rider to find the same riding position on the bike, regardless of size, preserving the feel and handling characteristics originally developed by our engineers.

Stack height therefore progresses faster than usual across the size range. However, we chose to achieve this faster progression primarily through recommended component geometry, rather than through headset spacer height, meaning anyone who prefers a more conventional geometry can still set the bike up that way.
