Origine unveils the Newton[e]: the lightest electric bike in the world (9.83 kg)

Three years after introducing the Help, Origine raises the bar with the Newton[e]: an electric-assist bike designed to defy gravity and conquer mountain passes without hesitation, while making no compromises on overall reliability, comfort, motor torque, or range.

Presented as the lightest electric bike in the world, this record weight is achieved on a size M bike, without exotic components, and remains well below the prices currently seen on the market for heavier bikes. Origine successfully combines performance, intelligent assistance, and ultra-light weight with a range of up to 100 km without an additional battery.

A successor to the Help, designed to go even further

Launched in 2022, the Help surprised and impressed riders thanks to its unique approach to the e-bike: a high-performance bicycle designed from the outset as a true sport bike, with assistance intended not to replace effort, but to complement it when needed.

Its versatility (road, all-road, gravel, touring), precise and lightweight Mahle X20 motor, and full configurability made the Help a benchmark for demanding cyclists.

Advanced carbon technology

The Newton[e] frame is not an adapted version of an existing model; it is the result of a dedicated and specific development process. Starting from a blank sheet, Origine’s engineering team designed this carbon bike to meet the mechanical constraints specific to an e-bike, while preserving the performance, dynamism, and comfort that define Origine’s DNA.

Built from the same high-modulus carbon fibers and using the same molding technology as Origine’s high-end road frames, it benefits from proven expertise refined over the years on the brand’s most demanding platforms.

Origine’s R&D teams carefully optimized the carbon layup to handle the mechanical stresses generated by motor torque. The frame meets high standards for responsiveness, reliability, and vibration damping, without compromising weight. The Newton[e] delivers an exceptionally dynamic, precise, and comfortable ride experience that makes you forget there is a motor, until the moment you truly need it.

Light, yet powerful: a new benchmark

With its high-performance carbon frame, the Newton[e] reaches a major milestone: under 10 kg on the scale, with a bare frame weighing just 980 g, without compromising torque.

It positions itself as one of the contenders for the title of the lightest electric bike in the world, it remains one of the very few e-bikes to combine this level of lightness with 65 Nm of torque and 275 watts of peak power, ensuring strong assistance on climbs, into headwinds, or on gravel terrain.

The Mahle X20 motor, weighing only 1.39 kg, is discreetly integrated into the rear hub. The result: the natural ride feel of a traditional road bike is preserved, even when assistance is switched off.

This pursuit of lightness and efficiency extends to the new Prymahl C31 Pro wheels. With a 31 mm carbon rim profile, 23 mm internal width, and a rim-set weight of 720 g, they enhance the Newton[e]’s lively, stable, and efficient handling, especially in mountainous terrain.

100 km range, extendable to 160 km

The Newton[e] features a 236 Wh battery offering up to 100 km of range in mixed use, thanks to its lightweight design. The battery is fully integrated into the downtube, giving the bike the appearance of a classic non-assisted road bike.

A discreet hatch underneath the frame allows for battery replacement if needed. For longer adventures, an optional range extender increases total capacity to 435 Wh, providing up to 160 km of uninterrupted riding pleasure.

Charging to 80% takes less than two hours.

Assistance that respects your pedal stroke

The Newton[e] was built around a simple idea: a bike should remain a bike. Assistance should feel invisible in operation, yet effective when called upon.

Thanks to speed, torque, and cadence sensors, the Mahle X20 adjusts assistance intelligently and smoothly, with seamless transitions. Above 25 km/h, the motor disengages without resistance, allowing you to reach traditional road bike speeds without excess energy consumption.

ANT+ compatible, the system connects to your GPS via the My SmartBike app to automatically adjust assistance based on your effort, gradient, or heart rate.

Newton[e] and Newton[e] GR: one bike, every possibility

Whether you are a performance-oriented road rider or a touring cyclist with the Newton[e], or a gravel and bikepacking enthusiast with the Newton[e] GR (tire clearance up to 45 mm), the bike adapts to every discipline through the Origine configurator.

In this version, it positions itself as the lightest electric gravel bike in the world in its category. Its balanced geometry, precise handling, and reliability in all conditions make it a complete bike ready to follow you anywhere.

Unlimited personalization

True to the Origine philosophy, the Newton[e] is 100% configurable online. Every cyclist can design a fully customized bike according to personal preferences, body measurements, riding level, and budget:

  • Exclusive color palette or custom paint on request
  • Road, gravel, or mixed setups with appropriate tires
  • Cockpit dimensions adjusted to the millimeter
  • Choice of components (drivetrain, wheels, handlebar, saddle, seatpost, etc.)

An intuitive 3D configurator allows real-time visualization of the bike. Origine advisors also support customers by phone or video call to create the bike perfectly tailored to their expectations.
